There’s great power in visualization. For example, try building a house on time and on budget without blueprints… it’s just not gonna happen. The same is true with building societal and infrastructure change. That’s why it’s important to imagine a positive future and build a road map to get there.

Conversations about the climate often center what we don’t want to happen. We don’t want people to suffer from droughts, unbreathable air, or hunger. We don’t want to lose vibrant cities to flooding, or beloved wildernesses to drilling. We don’t want endangered Monarch butterflies to disappear. 

At Climate Creative we believe it is just as important to engage imaginatively about what we do want to happen. Innovating toward the climate future we do want requires harnessing our own renewable energy: creativity. 

Climate Creative challenges us to imagine what our near future might look like if we adopted creative ways forward now.

In this project, we challenge participants to imagine what human society could look like in a regenerative future that addressed many of our current problems. How might food systems look? What would life in a city be like? What things have changed for the better?

This was the vision of the Climate Creative Fall 2020 Cohort.

The Climate Creative Cohort is hosted twice a year in spring and fall. It’s an 8-week creative professional development fellowship that allows participants to grow their environmental knowledge and use their creative and problem-solving skills to make a final social-impact oriented project.

Our work here is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s meant to help you dream about the future and think about what is possible if we mobilize quickly and with vision. There are so many parts of our society that need an overhaul that we couldn’t get to, so that’s where you come in…
